The fuse had blown.
I was left without power from all four plugs in the room. At first I thought only the heater was a goner, but soon realized it was the sockets that were not working. In a good way, because my heater is still working (albeit a bit blackened); it only requires that the fuse be changed. The bad side is that it happened at about 6pm, after office hours, meaning that there were no engineers on the ground at Dover. Meaning that I had to endure a whole night without power (think no laptop!) In addition, my fridge no longer had power too - think about the food inside!
What was I to do? The best solution - turn in early (I did, at about 9 PM!) and forget about work.
